Tips for improving typing speed
- Practice regularly—consistency matters more than long sessions.
- Focus on accuracy first; speed will follow.
- Use all ten fingers and learn touch typing.
- Keep your eyes on the screen, not the keyboard.
- Take short breaks to avoid fatigue.
Proper finger placement
Home row keys: A S D F (left hand) and J K L ; (right hand). Left index on F, right index on J (feel the bumps). From there, reach up and down for other keys without moving your whole hand.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Looking at the keyboard while typing.
- Using only a few fingers instead of all ten.
- Hitting keys with the wrong finger and not correcting the habit.
- Rushing and sacrificing accuracy for speed.
- Poor posture or positioning of hands and wrists.
